LanzaTech joins China’s Yankuang Group on coal to fuel project
LanzaTech and Yankuang Group, one of China’s largest coal producers, are to produce fuels and chemicals using LanzaTech’s biological fermentation process and synthesis gas from Yankuang’s coal gasification unit.
The companies signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in front of US Ambassador Gary Locke as part of a US Trade Mission to Shandong Province, which included Dr James Zhang, LanzaTech’s VP of Business Development.

LanzaTech makes its first commercial sale
LanzaTech has just signed its first commercial customer, marking a milestone in the clean energy technology company’s global development.
The customer is Concord Enviro Systems (India) Pvt. Ltd (CES), a Mumbai-based company which has broad ranging investments in various forms of renewable energy. The company’s portfolio of waste-to-energy includes municipal solid waste (MSW) to energy at the largest contributor. Through a group company Concord Blue, a German-Indian company, it provides advanced gasification technology for syngas generation from a wide variety of waste streams.

In the first, the clean energy technology firm has not only retained its spot in the prestigious Global Cleantech Top 100, but also been named “Company of the Year Asia Pacific” for 2011.
